“I need to tell you something. And I need you to just – not freak out. Okay? I need you to listen. Seriously. Listen. Until the end.”

Since it was first staged in 2011 ATYP’s annual monologue program The Voices Project has changed the national landscape for  young writers and actors.

Over a million people have watched a Voices Project performance online and the scripts that are published each year by Currency Press have been performed in every state and territory in the country. The productions have launched the careers some of Australia’s leading young artists – writers and actors.

It’s a simple concept. We bring together 20 of the nation’s most interesting emerging writers and send them away for a week to be challenged, inspired and mentored by industry leaders. During that week they are given a theme and encouraged to create a seven-minute monologue for a seventeen year old actor. We then choose ten pieces and present them as our first production of the year. The best young adult actors get to perform them. You get a sneak peak at the future of the industry.
