Graham Devlin and I had already worked together to create The Bottle Imp for Major Road in 1994; remarkably still able to talk to each other afterwards, we decided to adapt another Robert Louis Stevenson story. Graham wrote the script and directed the production, I wrote the music and lyrics. The show toured England and, with a different production, Holland. The first song, below, is the opening of the show, with Jekyll giving a lecture on his theories that, if successful, could change man's behaviour for the better. the second is an 'almost love' song, with Jekyll and Sarah, his beautiful assistant each wondering how close they are to what they want. The third, the Gun Song, is about American attitudes to owning firearms….now whatever happened to that notion?
