GLORY!

Glory! is about a young woman imprisoned for a terrible crime. Her sentence is to be carried out on the day of Independence on the Caribbean island where she lives. The two worlds of colonial politics and domestic strife follow each other throughout the story.

I wrote and composed this in 1987/8 for Temba Theatre Company. It won the 1988 LWT Plays On Stage competition and the £20,000 first prize went towards the national tour of a main house production that opened at Derby Playhouse and ended at the Lyric Hammersmith. The production was directed by Earl Warner.
