For Nitro, at Greenwich Theatre. Written by Margaret Busby; Musical Direction by Allyson Devenish.
Based on transcriptions from the landmark court case in 1783, heard by Lord Mansfield, concerning the slave ship "Zong" and the terrible fate of 132 who were thrown overboard for the sake of expediency.
I was very pleased by the balance of necessary factual 'legalese' and emotionally driven music, which combined to tell this powerful story.
